ARTIST LECTURE & WORKSHOP, SPARTA KUNSTAKADEMIE DÜSSELDORF, 14th & 15th JUNE 2023
LECTURE 14TH JUNE
After talking about the interdisciplinary nature of my practice, and showing some of my past work, I will
present my current research and ideas. I am open for questions and conversation at the end.*
WORKSHOP 15TH JUNE
- - Text, Sound, Voice, Performance - Interdisciplinary practice as queerfeminist strategy - -
In this two-part workshop, we will look at the intersections of text, sound/music and voice in artistic production,
and investigate how aesthetic procedures can subvert notions of gender identity and representational politics in
performance.
11:00-13:30h
In the first section, we will read and discuss two texts: Pamela Z’s “Tool” (http://www.pamelaz.com/tool.htm) and
Terre Thaemlitz’s “Nuisance” (https://www.comatonse.com/writings/nuisance.html). All participants should have read
both texts. Each participant is invited to contribute with a mini presentation (10-13 min). Two volunteers will
present one of the above texts each. The other participants should prepare a mini presentation on an
interdisciplinary artist whose practice they find relevant to the texts. Sound examples, videos, powerpoint
presentations, storytelling, all welcome! Be inventive!
I will bring a few examples to class, too. Please let me know which text/artist you will present.
15:00-17:30h
In the second section, students have the chance to present and discuss their own work in relation to
text/voice/performance/sound/music.
